I find that bug hunting in the cybersecurity realm is very a very smart and beneficial route to take. Yes, it takes advantage of cost/benefit economic principles which is also criminological theory, and what better way to take all those potential negative criminal actions and redirect them into a positive route. There is empirical evidence to support that this offer of funding of even the smallest amount from the most budget limited companies have a positive engagement with hackers. There is a possibility that these skilled hackers are often not recruited as talent for these companies for lack of enticing salaries. Bug hunting is a way to employ this lost talent and put it to use instead of their skills being put to use for crime.
