When the question arises on what ways that computers have advanced us as a human race I think of the ways it has made us more and less safe in a world that is so wrapped up in technology. Technology has extremely impacted the world by both making it safer to easily get in contact faster with medical professionals or being able to just search up what you need to get or buy to improve what symptoms you have if you are sick, but it also has exposed us to vulnerabilities that have made us be cautious every time we go to access our devices. Three ways computers and technology have made the world safer are, Improved medical technology the practice of modern medicine is at an all time high from advanced diagnostics to computer aided surgeries. Computers have made doctors and nurses jobs easier, being able to easily pull up medical records and storing up to as many files that they want because of the high amount of data that computers can store. Another way is transportation all the new modern cars have gps technology making it easier to get your destination faster and if you do not have this type of advanced technology in your vehicle you can just simply download and pull it up on your phone no more using a huge map, this change also goes back to an improved medical technology because if you are injured dispatchers can pinpoint your location at any given moment so that medical professional can get to you in no time. The final way is the expansion of communication and media, we can communicate globally all over the world no matter where you are and we can receive recent news quickly from all new outlets. Moving on the how computers has made the world less safe is the risks of cybersecurity threats, cyber attacks is at an all time high it’s a new outlet criminals are using now to steal information from their victims or cause huge breaches to companies that they can hardly recover from, next is the concern for privacy the more and more we use technology we continue to raise the concern of digital footprint which is data that is collected from out devices that can be spreaded as misinformation, lastly is being socially isolated when being on a computer all day and night you lose forms of social interaction and become socially awkward also there’s a lot of creeps on the internet who you would never meet or know so you are creating relationships virtually with people you don’t know that could possibly harm you.
