What is a Firewall?

Fire walls are used to help strengthen security on a private network for companies. Specifically, they mainly are used to block incoming unauthorized data or packets from coming into a network. The type of fire walls is hardware, software, and both. The hardware is connected to a network and stops the unauthorized data from coming in. A software firewall is usually put into a computer’s operating system and protects the computer from hackers trying to get in. The security implemented in the fire wall can control what comes in based on certain criterion. They have a control list which controls what can come in through the “door” of the hardware and software of the firewall.
