The first motive that I think made the most sense being number one was the “entertainment” link about LinkedIn. Technically what happened was not illegal he just used a technique called data scraping. Data scraping is when a piece of software is written to visit a webpage, read the data displayed, and then add it to a database. The data he was scraping was publicly available so it technically was not a security breach so he really did not commit a crime which is why I ranked it number one.
The one I would rank as number two would be the “for money” motive. I had no idea that cybercriminals made so much money. The only thing is what are these cybercriminals doing to make millions of dollars. Even though the article did not mention what types cybercrimes were committed to make millions of dollars, I listed the motive and article as number two because of how much money they bring in annually.
The article I raked third was the one about multiple reasons. The article mentioned that the motive cloud be because these people are going through tough times and need a quick come up just to make ends meet.
The article I ranked fourth was about political motives. I ranked this fourth because you can get possible jail time if you are not careful with exactly what you are doing as far as political cybercrime.
The next article I ranked at five was the one about recognition. To me it was stupid the things the person did just for attention and he ended up getting jail time along with having to be monitored by police in the future for what he did.
The article I ranked at six was the one about revenge. Revenge is not something I believe in I believe in karma so to do something to spite someone else to me is not cool at all.
The article I ranked last was boredom, because messing with a child’s life is just completely wrong. No grown person should seek to do any of the things mentioned in the article because it is also illegal. You can potentially scar the child for life and which can lead them to depression or having suicidal thoughts because they cant deal with what happened to them.
