Article Review
The topic of this article is testing, fixing, and building strong security mechanisms to prevent cyber crimes. This relates to the principles of social sciences because it focuses on analyzing behavior behind the cyber crimes, and determine ways to prevent it.
The study used a conceptual model to formulate five different hypotheses in which each independent variable would have a significant effect on the dependent variable. The independent variables are categorized into institutional factors such as Information Security, Cyber Education, and Internet Applications, and individual factors such as Cyber Training and Cyber Education. The dependent variable in this study is the level of digital awareness. The types of research methods used was an online questionnaire of 25 items with five indicators for the dependent variable and four indicators for the independent variable. The variables each was tested under was Information Security (IS), Creative Behavior (CB), Cyber Education (CE), Cyber Training (CT), Internet Applications (IA), and Digital Awareness (DA). These were used to figure out the level of cybersecurity awareness. There were also other questions asked such as personal demographics questions, accessibility to the internet, level of digital skills, type of device that was used, their purpose for using the internet, and their type of connectivity service. The data and analysis was done under hypothesis testing, parametric statistical testing, and regression analysis.
In this article review they used SPSS, or Statistical Product and Service Solutions, version 25 to be able to process the data that was done. Because it involves informing people about the hazards and threats connected to their digital behavior and enabling them to take proactive steps to safeguard themselves and their information online, raising digital awareness is strongly tied to cybersecurity concepts.
Being aware of cybercrimes becomes more important as time goes by. Our world is more technologically sound then it has ever been before. Each and everyday cybercrimes are committed. Creating Digital awareness is important because it helps protect against cybercrimes and exposes offenders. It helps reduce the occurrences and the impact of the crimes. Ways that Spreading digital awareness can be done in numerous ways. You can teach people how to be safe online. Most people aren’t aware of the varietes of risk they take just owning a device. Teaching them how to properly surf the internet could limit cybercrimes.
Raising awareness and teaching the different threats that people may face could also prevent cybercrimes from happening. If people know how to identify and defend against different methods they become self empowered. On the other hand, if thye aren’t taught on the threats they may face they become extremely vulnerable. In summary, raising digital literacy will help in the prevention of cybercrimes and shelter society from the catastrophic impacts of cyberattacks. Digital awareness campaigns can have a positive effect on society by promoting appropriate online conduct, increasing public knowledge of cyberthreats
