I currently study mostly at the library or in the Webb because it’s a neutral spot and away from distractions, like my dorm room. I set aside time to study for each class by taking notes and then going back to highlight after I’m done, so I have to read through my notes to find what is important. Highlighting gives me a repetition in reviewing my notes and then before big assignments or tests I like to review again so then I have a minimum of two repetitions of the information for each class. For my math class the way I study is doing different problems for each of the concepts which helps me make sure I understand the concepts. In class I take very detailed notes in the note taking way that I have found works for me best. I take column notes and I separate each class or textbook chapter by rotating different colors that I use to highlight with. I have figured out which note taking strategy works for me best through my four years of high school AVID which made me try taking a variety of different types of notes till I found out what works best for my brain and helps me remember the information most. When my classes are online I go to the Webb or at the library. Being away from my room helps me not get distracted during my classes. If I do end up taking my class in my room I make sure I’m sitting up and usually at my desk so I’m not tempted to just curl up in my blankets and fall back asleep in bed.m and go back to sleep in my bed. Outside of class I spend a good amount of time taking notes so that I am prepared for class but also so that my notes are clean and neat for when I go back and read them to review I can understand what the chapters are about. I also study with friends that are in the same classes as me so we can help each other with the parts that we don’t understand. I also make sure to write all of my assignments down in my planner so I can keep track of what Is coming up and what work is due soon so that I keep on top of my work and I don’t fall behind. One of the classes outside of health professions that I am doing really well in is sociology I would say. I spend a lot of time outside of class preparing. A majority of the time I spend during the week doing homework is spent taking notes for class and working on the chapter review quizzes on Connect. Before the quiz we had I made flashcards for all the terms on the study guide and ran through them till I could get every single one correct multiple times.
