After watching the video titled “Hacker Rates 12 Hacking Scenes In Movies And TV” it helped me gain a general knowledge of how media depicts cybersecurity. My 1st point is that Media tends to make the act of hacking seem easy. It doesn’t correctly depict the sophistication and challenges that hackers may face when trying to hack into a guarded network. They also depict this as very fast-paced, and that hacking a network can take only seconds to do immense damage. Typically, a sophisticated attack that creates a large disruption will take time and patience. At one point in the video, there was a very realistic phishing attack. They captured this well as you watched the hacker create an attack that was personalized to its targeted user. I think the media does help emphasize the need for cybersecurity measures in a network, but it also does not correctly depict the amount of effort it takes to successfully hack an individual or organization.
