Journal Entry 1 – NICE Framework

After reviewing the NICE Framework, I found that the career choice that appeals most to me is cybercrime Investigation, which is part of the “Investigation” role category. Since I became a young adult, I have been interested in a role in law enforcement and investigations. The idea of processing crime scenes and assisting prosecutors as an expert witness to bring criminals to justice would be a fulfilling career choice. There are many aspects of cybercrime, such as investigating breaches, mass scams that target the elderly, and even assisting in cases of cyberbullying, which led to the suicide of Megan Meier in October 2006.

The Category in the NICE Framework that I find least interesting as a career path would be (IO) Implementation and operation. I have already spent time in my career as a help-desk administrator working with networks, systems administration, and technical support. Even though this has given me valuable experience, it is not something I would like to do for the rest of my career. I want to be more proactive in helping protect the public against cyber criminals and threats.
