I was interested in cybersecurity first because of my dad. My dad is an Information Security Analysis and works for the government and my mother also works in the cybersecurity field. My dad is very passionate about cybersecurity as well as his field of study, so I have heard a lot about it ever since I was young. Hearing about my dad’s job made me think about majoring or doing something in the cybersecurity field. Another reason I was interested in cybersecurity technology was because of the crime aspect of it. I love to watch shows like Criminal Minds, NCIS, Hawaii 5 – 0, and law and order. At first, I wanted to become a forensic scientist because I really liked seeing the process of finding clues. Because of this, I thought that cybersecurity technology would be the perfect fit for me. I became interested in this because I knew the knowledge that I could gain from this would be very influential to me. Cybersecurity is just like forensic science to me because you are looking for clues in the computer for viruses or cyberattacks that could be or are happening. With cybersecurity, I would also have a very good chance of getting any job that I might desire because I would have the basics down for any challenge the job I pick might present. I also was interested in this field because it is very big and there are many different jobs that require different skills. I have tried coding before, but it wasn’t something that I would want to do. I am more interested in the cybercrime part of this field and that is one of the main reasons I’m interested in this field. There will always be a need for someone in the cybersecurity technology field and I think that is what really drew me towards it.
