Cyber technology has created many opportunities for work deviance because of the money that can be made from cybertechnology as well as the fact that many people who work in this field work from a computer. I think to understand how cyber technology has created opportunities for deviance we have to understand the difference between deviance and crime. Deviance is something that is not technically a offensable crime, but something that is seen as wrong to the rest of society’s eyes. A crime on the other hand is something that is punishable in the eyes of the law, so for example attemtempting to murder someone is a crime because it is punishable by the law. With that being said, deviance can also be considered a crime. I think that one of the main deviences that happens in the world of cyber technology because of cyber technology is information about their jobs and equipment can get misplaced or end up in the wrong hands because the employee was not careful with where they placed their information. This could hurt the company in many different ways. It could allow the company or organization to be able to be attacked because of the information that was not taken care of. Another way cyber technology contributes to deviance in the workplace is when an employee decides to do something else on his work computer while he is on the clock. Again this could leave the company/organization open to attacks because he is not paying attention to the job that he was handed to do. Doing other things such as playing games or looking at certain websites on company time and resources could also cause a string of viruses on that computer that would again leave them open for any attack. I think that any type of deviance in the cyber technology field could be harmful to the companies because of how sensitive the information can be.
