Artifact 5

Mod 12 Image

This module had you analyze aggression. Being prompted with short scenarios and deciding whether you classify them as a aggression or not was a peculiar way to discuss what exactly aggression entails. It allowed for further education on the subject and to see how that can be applied when taking a deeper look at daily examples one could see play out. I enjoyed the thought provoking situations and having to identify under which sub-category of aggression did they fall.

Artifact 4

Mod 7 Image

This module had you examine your behavior by taking a survey. I thought this was a cool way to take a look at why we may or may not do things, even though acknowledging what is sometimes the better approach. It allowed inconsistencies to come to light and for you to use introspection to figure out why that is. Especially examining where cognitive dissonance comes into play and why we think it does.

Mod 6 Image

This module taught us to examine the self across various situations. I liked this one because it made you think in depth about your actions and intentions. It seemed a little egocentric to talk about one’s self as the assignment asked, but that’s a characteristic I know acknowledge I just try to avoid, so this got me out of my comfort zone. This also allowed you to see how you show up in scenarios, given the opportunity to record and elaborate what you did.

This module was interesting because we watched a video of media coverage and its effect on heuristics. This taught me how heuristics are available in many mediums and can be ingested with out real knowledge that it’s happening if one is not hyper-aware. It also brought a deeper understanding to the subject matter and how to apply it with real life. This also illuminates the bigger picture how this form of assumptions can spread and become something of a scare tactic and result in deep rooted issues and thought processes.

Artifact 1

A screen shot from my personal FB with friend interaction based on provided prompt.

For this first Top Artifact I used Module 3’s Item to Archive. Due to social distancing I decided to use a method of questioning on Facebook to receive answers from willing participants. My friends reached out and all had differing opinions relating to the questionnaire. It was really interesting to read differing perspectives, and even some rather similar, in response to my post. It offers insight into the different ways each individual approaches things based on their responses to questions that were all the same. I enjoyed this experience because I truly love free interaction online with folks. Usually there is a decent level of honesty based on the security of typing from behind a screen. Plus the questions asked don’t illicit any complicated social avenues to navigate so it provided a moderate topic to openly discuss. This lesson taught me that your own opinions can be so different from someone you share, or so similar to someone you don’t share, lots of similarities to. It allowed a place for people to express their thoughts that I could then compare to my own.
