There are a multitude of threats that hamper the climate of everyday life for the common man. With the utilization of the Internet in our daily lives from workplaces going with more digital based approaches to their workforce really hitting its stride after the pandemic to mundane services once held by lower skilled workers being trusted to applications, it more important now than ever to be aware of the rising of cyber-based attacks that are flooding our data centric landscape. One such issue shows its head in the form of “attack on availability”, in which whole networks are taken down and or stalled by the introduction of an attack that floods the network with things such as traffic or the corruption of data. These attacks come in the form of Ransomeware, Malware, Denial-of-Service attacks, etc. A recent example of the dangers of such attacks comes at the expense of the rising Chinese AI company called DeepSeek. In January of this year, DeepSeek was caught in the middle of a DDos attack in which attackers deployed advanced techniques such as brute force attacks to overwhelm the servers of the company. This attack was particularly a hindrance on new customers during the registration process and ultimately cost the company a large amount of stocks as the attacks persisted over the course of months. This shows that companies need to be wary of their bottom line as these attacks are not only becoming more frequent but also more advanced. This will cause companies to invest more heavily into their cybersecurity efforts as the alternative could cause thousands if not millions of dollars worth of damage in the long run. The importance of those in our field increase by the day, which will serve as a motivator to the future generation of cybersecurity users.
