Module 2 Journal Entry

Relativism – meaning that all things are related. In cyber security that would mean that they may not deal with cybersecurity and actually use it as a building block. And I’m doing so shows that all things are actually related. This is related to cybersecurity because as technology advances , cyber threats also advance and can usually keep up with the technology.

Objectivity – meaning that scientists need to study just the facts in a non biased way. I’m doing so it helps advance the knowledge that is already there. This is related to cyber security because this principle is used on how to punish offenders in cyberspace.

Parsimony – meaning explanations should be kept to a minimum and as simple as possible. With Social science that is a bit harder to do and understand because how do we explain someone’s action that we do not know. This relates to cyber security because it helps people that are not in this space to understand how to protect themselves.

Empiricism – it’s giving the area of study thay social science falls under , that being the five senses. The knowledge comes from what we experience using those senses. In order to establish rules within cyber security it needs to be done using empiricism because it cannot be done using opinions or hunches.

Ethical Neutrality – in order to conduct research that is taken seriously, scientists must adhere to a code of ethics. Meaning thay the individual inside the study have rights to things such as privacy. This relates to cybersecurity because one would say the monitoring software is non ethically , one must establish ethical neutrality.

Determinism – This one is harder to establish because human behavior changes on a regular basis, but it means that behavior that we are exposed to is caused by past events. This one is harder to relate to because this is a social science, with that being said one could relate the behavior of how people feel toward credit card sites after finding out that their information is being leaked to the dark web.
