Why am I interested in cybersecurity technology?

Cybersecurity is a rapidly growing field as many may know by now. There are many reasons to be intrigued by such a career, but here are mine. 

There is a very high percentage of growth. Since technology has been around for quite some time and will continue to be around there is always the need for protection. Whether it is from viruses to identity theft, there is always a reason to have a cybersecurity related job. So one may feel more “secure” in cybersecurity. That is something I strive to achieve myself is financial as well as job security.

There are also many different career paths to choose from. Whether you wish to work for the government, or work for a private institution, there is certainly a job for your interests. My particular interest would be the forensics aspect of cybersecurity. As a person who grew up watching Law and Order, forensics and case solving has always caught my attention. So being told that I could potentially protect people against cybercrime really spoke to me. To also work for the government is an aspect that I find compelling. I know being in the military is something that has always lingered in the back of my mind, not necessarily being on the front lines of battle in person, but to help protect others. Cybersecurity plays a major role in the protection of others through technology.

I am also drawn to the fact that there is always room for expansion and to further yourself. For example, when I get attached to a hobby, or a sport, I tend to push myself to be the best for not only myself but for my team. So seeing how you can gain a vast amount of knowledge, and even push yourself farther in the field is something I think is very intriguing.
