Artifact 5

Item to Archive #8 was a slightly different activity compared to the rest. It was based around time perspective and orientation of different cultures and how they differ in their views of the topic. Individuals tend to change the behaviors that they have towards people when time is introduced into the fray. I had to put myself in a scenario where I had an appointed time to meet with different people and they did not show up at that time. I was to determine how long could or would I be willing to wait for them to show.
After filling out the times I noticed that appointments with people who were business related that were late I would wait significantly less time (five-ten minutes) than my best friend who was the individual that I would spend the most time waiting for (fifteen-twenty minutes). I personally am a punctual person and I arrive on time if not a little early because you never know what to expect. I’ve learned that time orientation is different in every culture and individuals have various perspectives of it. It is important to have patience and learn from them.
The image below represents my perception of time as there are many different time clocks that we have in our heads for different aspects of our lives and it is seemingly endless. You always want to be early or on time and never late. Understanding the importance of what time means to yourself and what it could mean to others is how one can show respect.
