Personalities that make me: This image reflects the different kinds of personality traits that defines who I am
The NEO personality test looks at five different dimensions of personality; Openness, Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism. After completing the personality tests and going back to compare what I generally thought my personality to be like in each of the categories to what my score actually was; the only difference was that I scored higher on Openness than what I thought which was average. My scores for each category are as follows:
- Neuroticism- 17 (Average)
- Extraversion- 24 (Low)
- Openness- 39 (Very High)
- Agreeableness- 28 (Average)
- Conscientiousness- 43 (Very High)
The personality test is mostly consistent with the view I have of my personality. Before taking the test, I choose based on the general idea of each dimension, which category best fit my personality. Starting with Neuroticism I scored to the lower end of average with my responses in that domain. During situations of stress I tend to remain calm externally, but also during that time I tend to have internal anxiety. In the study where the statements tend to lean towards feelings of helplessness or wanting to give up, I scored lower than when it asked about anxiety, where I scored slightly higher.
The second domain is Extroversion and I scored low; however, it was on the higher end of low. I am more of an introverted individual as I tend to be more reserved about my feelings, I enjoy being alone or with a close few friends in social settings. I agree with it being on the higher end because I still enjoy being active and spending time outside enjoying nature. I scored higher on the statements that referred to being an active person and my life being fast paced but lower when it the statements were geared towards being around people or being where action is.
The third domain being Openness I scored very high, but it was towards the lower end. This is not consistent with the average response I gave in the beginning with what believed it to be based on the general idea described. I do feel like a am practical in my ways but that I seek to balance the old and new in retrospect. But, after reading the statements and seeing that I scored higher when it talked about getting excited about new art or poetry and trying new or foreign foods. I agree that I am open to knew experiences and broadening my interest base.
The fourth domain Agreeableness was scored at being average which is consistent with my original response with the description for the domain. The score was towards the lower end of average. My personality is generally warm and agreeable and that it is stubborn as well. Though this is the case I tend to be more reserved in who I trust and can sometimes be considered hardheaded and skeptical at times as I scored higher with being warry of people taking advantage of me and being tough minded in my attitudes.
The last domain Conscientiousness was the highest scored domain out of the other four and Is consistent with how I rated myself before taking the study. I find myself to be an extremely organized individual with concise schedules and I always hold myself to high standards when striving for my goals because it is my future. Many of the statements pertaining to organization and productivity towards goals I scored high in as I tend to think thoroughly though everything.
