Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
Cybersecurity has been something I have recently gained interest in. Before becoming a student at Old Dominion University, I completed my first round of studies at Tidewater Community College, where I earned an Associates degree in Business Administration. Although that was something I enjoyed at the time, I quickly realized this was not a field I would want to pursue a career in. I then began to weigh all of my options and came across cybersecurity. Though I hadn’t heard much about it before, cybersecurity piqued my curiosity. The field of cybersecurity is forever evolving, the opportunities are endless. We live in a society where everything is migrating to technology. The job security that cybersecurity provides is one like you won’t find often. There has been an increase in cyber threats and attacks, making the need for cybersecurity analyst higher than ever. The demand is going to continue to flourish. A friend of mine who works in cybersecurity once said to me, “you better get in it while you can.” She was telling me this because as more people are starting to find out about this career path, the more over saturated it will become making it harder for individuals to find their way into the field. As a cybersecurity analyst, you are needed everywhere technology is being used. I know that this is a career where I will never get bored. As technology continues to evolve, so will cybersecurity. I know that with the more certifications I have, the higher I can climb up the ladder. I enjoy how the jobs in cybersecurity aren’t just limited to only technology. There are so many other industries who find cybersecurity analyst useful. These, among many other reasons, are why I piqued an interest in cybersecurity technology. I am excited to continue this journey and to keep learning new things. I am eager to see what the future holds.
