How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Within the workplace, there has been so many changes as a result of cyber technology. Some of the changes they have faced would include smoother communication, productive teamwork, and simplified procedures. In addition to all these advantages, technology has also created so many new opportunities for workplace misconduct. There is room for digital resources to be misused because of how easily accessible they are in the workplace. Some things that workers can do is download unauthorized content, use the internet for personal reasons excessively, or use the businesses resources for their own benefit. Luckily, cyber technology provides an anonymity for these kinds of instances, which make it very difficult for employers to identify and stop them. Cyber technology has made it so much easier for individuals to operate remotely. Individuals are able to work from anything there is a connection to wifi. Because of this, it has made it a lot harder to seperate or find a balance between your personal life and work life. Yes this flexibility comes with a lot of benefits, but is also leaves room for “cyber-slacking,” which is the practice of employees seeming to be productive while working on personal projects. There are things such as remote monitoring tools that could help, but a lot of employers deemed it ineffective. Businesses struggle to keep a positive work atmosphere while protecting against cybersecurity risks. They find it difficult to maintain employee accountability and independence in this digital age. Cyber technology has unquestionably revolutionized the modern workplace in so many ways. It made room for more efficiency, creativity, and connection that we once thought was not possible. This could be a good and bad thing, since it leaves room for workplace deviation. A complex strategy that includes corporate rules, staff knowledge, and technical protections is needed to address this issue.
