Review the NICE Workforce Framework. Are there certain areas that you would want to focus your career on? Explain which areas would appeal the most to you and which would appeal the least.
The NICE framework is used by the cybersecurity community across the board. The framework generalizes cybersecurity as definition and what its key tasks include. It is a resource for those seeking a career in cybersecurity and also its employers. In the framework, many positions and roles are outlined. There are 7 major categories stated as, Analyze, Collect and Operate, Investigate, Operate and Maintain, Oversee and Govern, Protect and Defend, and lastly Securely Provision. If I were to focus my career on any areas of the framework it would most likely be the Oversee and Govern category. I say this because my main goal in this field is to be a project manager and oversee projects. I do not see myself doing hands-on work in the field but I do see myself using my extensive knowledge to put me in a leadership position. One category that I find appealing is Investigate. I find this interesting because looking into cybercrimes and trying to solve them seems interactive. I also see it as an important category considering cyber crime is occurring daily and fuels the need for cybersecurity positions. I find the Collect and Operate area the least appealing because it seems like the most tedious category. Collecting data is important to the early stages of the process and is helpful to creating efficient systems. These tasks just don’t align with the specific role that I want to play in the field.
