Andriy Slynchuk has described
eleven things Internet users do
that may be illegal. Review what
the author says and write a
paragraph describing the five
most serious violations and why
you think those offenses are
serious.
The five most serious violations from the list are, Using unofficial streaming services, sharing passwords, address or photos of others, bullying and trolling, faking your identity online, and collecting information about children. Using unofficial streaming services is very common on the internet. It can be considered illegal because it is a copyright violation. People pay money for streaming services to be able to have access to certain shows, movies, sports, etc. It is wrong for others to obtain exclusive content for free and share it out while others have paid. I feel as though sharing address, passwords, and photos of others is very wrong. Exposing or giving out information that may not be yours can be very dangerous. It can bring unwanted attention or people to your home. We should be very careful of what we give others access to on the internet because it can end up in the wrong hands. Bullying and tolling is a serious violation because it can cause a lot of harm to others. Saying hurtful things to people online can really tear them down in real life. Everyone should be kind to others on the internet because we never know what someone is really going through. Faking your identity online is considered one of the worst violations to me. Stealing someone’s identity can lead to a lot of things. They can open credit cards in your name, buy things online, use your pictures and pretend to be you, all of these things are very scary. This can mess up your credit and cause a number of problems depending on what they do with your identity. Lastly, collecting information from anyone under 13. This offense should be taken very seriously, someone at this young of an age can give out vital information that they probably shouldn’t without knowing. Children do not always know all the safety protocols is the internet and cyber criminals will try to take advantage of that. It is important that we protect children from the dangers of the internet so they don’t mess up their digital footprint so early on in their life.
