After watching this video, write a journal entry about how you think
the media influences our understanding about cybersecurity.

The media dramatizes hacking and makes the process seem extremely quick, often without any error. However, the media tends to create everything pretty unrealistic, from how military operations work, to hand-to-hand combat, and how simple conversations between people can go. Some shows and movies involving hacking used elements like Nmap, secure shell, spear phishing, biometric two-factor authentication, and some others. I understand that in shows and movies, they have to speed the process up for them to continue with the program, and a lot of times, they incorporate hacking groups as these people hang out in blacked-out rooms with only their computers for light. Also, sometimes these shows and movies show technology that is more sophisticated than we have today; however, just like in the film “Hackers,” they introduced to the world, ransomware, which was unrealistic for its time but is something we have today.
