Why am I interested in cybersecurity?
I am interested in cybersecurity because it is an always changing field where you have different challenges every day. These new challenges are because hackers are constantly coming up with different methods to hack into programs to sell private information. When I was in the United States Marine Corps my favorite part of training was providing security because you must go inside the minds of the enemy by doing everything to the best of your ability of trying to figure out the path, they would take to overrun you. When my time in the Marine corps came to an end after my four years of service, I struggled to find a new career that I would enjoy while doing some of the same practices of defending my sector with security. After my time in the Marine corps came to an end, I found myself really struggling to find a new career that did not have layoffs due to lack of work needed to be done at the end of a job. In our digital age our information is all over the internet from gaming consoles, Facebook, and different online shopping websites. Which sparked my interest in cybersecurity more because with the rapid growth of technology making a need for more highly trained employees to enter the field. Being new into this field I am curious learning how the different networking and programing goes hand and hand with each other. While working towards my degree in cybersecurity I am excited on how I have picked up on learning how to program and how networks work. After researching the different fields while completing my IBM certification for cybersecurity you can get paired to what meets your skillset from working as a penetration tester for the red team, or creating firewalls while you build your skills to move to another position at the same time as building your current skills at your current position. I am excited to start my internships to gain experience to earn my degree to start my career.
