For this assignment, I reached out to multiple sports industry professionals to help guide me into their professional world. After countless messages & emails, I’ve found my penpal for the semester, her name is Samantha McCloskey from Delaware County, PA. She currently serves as the Marketing and Social Media Manager with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, where she manages the social media accounts of the team, does outbound marketing, and branding for the organization. To give some more background information of Samantha, she received her undergraduate degree in sociology from Texas Tech University. Shortly after graduation she interned with the Peoria Chiefs, the High-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. After the pandemic, canceled the 2020 MiLB season, Samantha earned her MBA at the University of Exeter. Almost immediately after graduation she accepted her role with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. What I have learned after reaching out to Samantha is she remains dedicated and determined to engaging with the Richmond community, as well as being involved with an organization that cares for its people.
