Typically for these types of assignments, I’ll try to create a brand new social media account to create a fake persona. In this assignment, I chose to stick to my already created X account and display how I use the platform in various ways (sports, memes, music). I do consume other forms of content like News from other Social Media, like YouTube which helps me with current events and updates. On the flip side, I do not have thousands or hundreds of followers that can see how I respond and digest media on the platform, yet I do engage with various accounts that deal with sports and meme culture mostly. I’ve had this account since 2020 when I was 17 years old, so there may be some immature stuff that I reacted to in the past. However, I tend to use X on a daily basis because it gives me a sense of comfortability with sharing my feelings and thoughts, without being ridiculed for. Most of the content found on my account deals with NBA Twitter. I have been a part of the NBA community for roughly the majority of my life, since it brings me joy and enthusiasm to discuss NBA related content with those around me. As you can see, I find most NBA content on X, which I’ll react or relate to. A couple of the bigger accounts that I follow on NBA Twitter include, Kenny Beecham, ThreeCone, Shams Charania, Matt Sponhour, and Synthetic Sports just to name a few. I enjoy these content creators because they bring me up to date with all things NBA related and make it entertaining to me as a consumer. Likewise, most of the guys that I mentioned in the last sentence have YouTube accounts where they have meaningful conversations about NBA news and game updates. On the other hand, I engage with meme Twitter, who brings humor front and center to me as a consumer of this media. A funny story about meme Twitter is the fact that I made my own Instagram meme account to try and replicate what I enjoyed on social media. To no one’s surprise, I didn’t end up becoming a big meme account. But it did show me that I could build a community for those who may have similar interests to mine. Finally, my social media persona is an array of things, but most of all it connects me to those who share my same values and interests through specific topics.
