“My Time in Sports and Strategic Communication”

In COMM 462, my time was valuable in the world of sports and strategic communication. One of the skills that I learned is how to connect with an audience within the sports landscape. In our blogs, we learned the role(s) of sports industry professionals with our pen pal assignments. Also, learning how marketing, public relations, and how the media is in sports helped me learn the importance of strategic communication in a wide industry, such as sports. What I think benefited me while taking this course, along with COMM 403 “Public Relations and Crisis Communication” was how crisis communication plays a part in sports media. For example, we learned how a crisis has damaged organizations and players in the sports industry, along with ways that sport organizations can manage the crisis. To sum up, I’m glad that I took this course as I believe it will serve as an important value to my future endeavors, either in the sports industry or not.
