Review what the author says and write a paragraph describing the five most serious violations and why you think those offenses are serious.
After reviewing the eleven things Internet users do that may be illegal by Andriy Slynchuk, the ones that stood out to me and that I believe to be the most serious violations are, collecting information about children, using unofficial streaming services, extracting audio from YouTube, using other people’s internet networks, and sharing passwords, addresses, or photos of others.
I believe these are serious violations, starting with collecting information about children. Children have very little knowledge when it comes to internet safety or the terms they may be agreeing to. Therefore, leaving children as vulnerable targets. I believe it’s incredibly risky to allow kids onto the internet/use social media due to these facts and since children’s data is stolen often and exploited for many reasons. All of this goes against the Children’s Online Protection Act. Next let me go over using unofficial streaming services. I believe these are serious because it goes against the law. It’s seriously dangerous to find free streaming services, where your data could be stolen, but you could also unknowingly download a virus onto your device. Then, there is extracting audio from YouTube. Some people ignore YouTube’s copyright policy and download copyrighted content anyways. Ding this goes against the US copyright laws. Therefore, leaving it as a serious violation. Next, there is using someone else’s network. This once again, goes against the law. People can not only just steal your info, but also use your WIFI to browse. Which may lead to illegal searches being on your WIFI, causing you to the the victim of the consequences. Lastly, let me go over sharing passwords, addresses, and/or photos of others. It’s illegal to post someone else’s info and/or photos online. Imagine that happened to you and how that would make you feel. This sadly happens often, and people sell someone else’s info for some sort of gain, like money. In conclusion, I find all of these serious violations that should be addressed more often. Sadly, most people do not have enough knowledge on internet safety and may have fallen victim to one or more of these actions or may have committed them and didn’t realize how serious they were.
