In the following video, Davin described his pathway to becoming an expert in digital forensics. He stated when he first started out, education wasn’t nearly as important as it is now. Therefore, his pathway to his career was much different than it would be now. I found it interesting that he found his path to this career from his previous job experiences from working in accounting, working within multiple IT fields, and from his father. Leading him to work with Australia’s first digital forensics team, opening up many opportunities within his career. Throughout the years, digital forensics has become increasingly more complex, leading to education and experience being crucial when entering this field. I believe that him entering the field at such an early stage was extremely lucky, I believe this since having such requirements wasn’t needed back then. Entering at such an early stage greatly assisted him when it came to getting the positions he got, since doing so now is more difficult and complex. I also found it impressive that he worked up to top positions, although it was due to him joining the field at such an early stage. It’s impressive to me since it is such a difficult job, especially since he had to learn throughout it since there wasn’t anyway to study for it at that time.
