Philly Gets Revenge, No Chiefs 3 Peat.

On February 9th, 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles came back with a vengeance and ultimately took down the Chiefs. The Chiefs had previously won the last two super bowls, meaning that a win from them for a consecutive 3rd year in a row, would have made history. No team in NFL history has ever won three Super Bowls back to back. With a thirst for a win under new coach Nick Sirriani, the Eagles were determined to once again, be the underdogs. Nonetheless, the Eagles dominated the game from start to finish.

The Kansas City Chiefs ran a whopping 23-yard first half with no points on the board. Analytically, this was below average for the Chiefs we have seen this season. The Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts, was quick to score a touchdown within the first quarter. In the second quarter, we saw Jake Elliot make a 48 yard field goal.  Cooper DeJean, the Eagles Cornerback, shocked the crowd with a 38 yard interception and first time career touchdown on his 22nd birthday. The Eagles gave the Chiefs a run for their money with 6 Mahomes sacks and two picks, all while in the second quarter.

This exciting rematch was destined to be a success on screen and in person. The energy in the field was unmatched, to say the least. With each play, we saw both teams become more aggressive and hungry for another ring. Viewers expectations were exceeded with a superb halftime showed that honed in on modern day issues. Chanting so loudly that it overtook the audio on television, many viewers had thoughtful discussions about the performance as a whole.

Reflecting back onto Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs were down at the half while the Eagles seemed on track for a win. As fate would have it, the Chiefs would come back in the second quarter and clinch a win. In this year’s Super Bowl, the third quarter seemed definitive in who was going to prevail. Jake Elliot kicked off the quarter with a 29 yard field goal. Towards the end of the third, the Chiefs would finally get their touchdown, but fail at the two point conversion. At the end of the third, we saw 6-34 on the board with the Eagles in the lead.

By the fourth quarter, the Chiefs seemed as though they had not given up. Jake Elliot took the start of the final quarter with a 48 yard field goal. Then, he proceeded to get another 50 yard field goal just moments after. Towards the end of the quarter, the Chiefs made a stride to come back by scoring a touchdown and a two point conversion. Their last play was also a touchdown followed by a two point conversion.

Needless to say, as many viewers and spectators believed the Chiefs were going to get their 3 peat, the Eagles came along and defeated them. Their perseverance more than likely came from their thirst for revenge against the Chiefs. This year’s Super Bowl will go down in history for many sports fans to come, is this the start of an Eagles dynasty?
