This semester, we worked on trying to understand what makes up different writing styles and what each style is used for as well as conveys to its reader. In doing so, we had our writing project where we took one aspect of this semester’s course work and reflected on it in formal/soft style (です/ます) and formal/stiff style (だ). I wrote my paper on my experiences with our group journal and found that I could write more than I expected, but also realized some of the struggles I have with conjugations and changing the verb forms. Despite any difficulties I’m having, I know that, with more practice, I’ll get more comfortable with the different literary styles and conjugation of verbs.
