- The Entrepreneurship at Old Dominion University crosses many disciplines and academic colleges. Their students, regardless of their major, can start their entrepreneurial journey through their growing offerings of entrepreneurship courses. Courses such as COMM 441 focus on Entrepreneurship at ODU when it comes to teaching. Also, the MGMT 426 Entrepreneurship course is a great example of their connections between disciplines. Lastly, even the Batten College of Engineering & Technology which is under the same curriculum as ODU offers an Entrepreneurial Engineering manager course.
- I believe that entrepreneurship is a blend of both art and science. It applies to art because you have to obtain the ability to think outside the box. Also, you have to be able to formulate ideas visually in your mind and apply them as an entrepreneur. However, it applies to science also because facts have to be validated at times. Furthermore, analytics can be key to making any plan successful and resources can be measured.
- Failure is good because it teaches how to be successful going forward. That’s why they always say to take the risk because if you fail you can learn from your failures and grow from them. Also, failure teaches you not to fear failure, and to embrace it because you know there are beneficial teachings through failure. Furthermore, it allows you to approach certain situations with reasoning and confidence. Lastly, failure will always tell the truth about where you are in life and will give you a starting point to advance from.
- I’ve learned that failing is not the end of the world and that it’s not all bad. Also, that failure is the key to all of your success. Failure has taught me that a negative doesn’t have to stay negative it can turn into a positive. Furthermore, I’ve taken the knowledge from my failures and made its wisdom. By failing you’re able to teach others how to succeed, and you can help people not make the same mistakes you did.
- Common ethical issues may arise like unrealistic and conflicting goals. Furthermore, because of the app, I’m putting together; we have many goals we plan to achieve in the future. Also, my goals may conflict with my other team member’s goals, so we have to make sure we communicate in that aspect to avoid those situations. I could also see customers questioning the use of company technology, not fully understanding our mission statement. Moreover, I do think these ethical issues can be handled through extensive communication on both sides when it comes to business and consumers.
