Windows Systems Management and Security
CYSE 280 is a foundational course in the Old Dominion University Cybersecurity program. The course focuses on giving students an understanding of Windows Server administration and the included security features. We studied everything from the file structures to user identity and access management. The course went further still and had students research different cybersecurity topics and require them to write a final paper. I chose to write mine on ransomware, explaining what it is and how people can defend against it. I have uploaded that paper at the bottom of this page.
Taking CYSE 280 not only improved my technical ability by further understanding Windows Server administration but also my research and writing skills. Throughout the course we were required to do various case assessments. Wherein we had to research a specific topic and analyze it or were presented different business scenarios. Some examples are writing a proposal for server upgrades or determining better ways to logically segment a business network. These are skills that transfer directly into a professional network administrator or security rule.
I have retained a few assignments from this course. As mentioned before I will be including my final paper as an example of the work we completed. I also have some of the case analysis saved as well. I believe these assignments demonstrate the problems we were working on and solving during CYSE 280.
