AWS Academy Cloud Foundations was a course offered by Old Dominion University at the start of the 2023 Spring semester. This was an eight-week course designed to prepare students for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. To do this we worked through 10 modules that introduced students to the Amazon Web Services Cloud. We learned about different cloud architectures and deployments, what the cloud can do, and how it can impact different business scenarios. At the end of the course, I sat for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam as the ‘final’ exam. I have embedded my certification at the bottom of this page.
I went into this course only knowing what the Cloud was as a concept, without a real understanding of how organizations can utilize it. Throughout AWS Academy Cloud Foundations, I gained a lot of technical knowledge regarding the Amazon Cloud. These are skills that are directly transferable to my professional goals. Working in network security there is a lot of opportunity to utilize the cloud and with my knowledge of AWS I can make recommendations as to how an organization can offload some infrastructure to the cloud. Increasing reliability and availability.
I did not retain many artifacts from AWS Academy Cloud Foundations. The significant one that I do have is my AWS Certification. This shows that I not only successfully completed the course but was able to pass the certification exam. This certification serves as a representation of the knowledge I gained from the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations course.
