We had three group discussions in the semester to recap the main ideas of what we had just learned in the previous chapters. For the first two, we were to fill out a paper of questions so that the students (of which there were six) could conduct the conversation themselves. This was especially useful for me for one reason: I was able to recognize that I often start ideas without finishing them. I will start a conversation topic, but once I’ve gotten enough of what I need to say out there, I’ll just leave it to be crudely digested. I’ve since worked on this and think I’ve done a good job at least attempting to argue the points that I make or provide reasoning. Besides this issue of rhetoric, these group discussion were useful for seeing how my classmates were absorbing the information in the class. It allowed me to see things I had learned from a viewpoint I wasn’t familiar with.
Below are the first two pages from the first group discussion.
