Reflection

This course has allowed me to strengthen my love for the French language. By going around the area and showing students the beauty of the language, I have come to realize that my calling in life is to become a French teacher. I hope to inspire students with my knowledge and help students fall in love with French just like my high school French teacher did with me. The benefits of becoming a public school French teacher is the ability to shape a student’s future. A student’s first exposure to a world language is between middle school and high school. At this age, their minds are slightly malleable allowing teachers to show them how beautiful the French language can be and better prepare them for higher levels of the language as well as college level French. I will admit that my first year of learning French was absolutely abysmal. I did not understand anything due to the teaching style; therefore, my goal as a future French teacher is less book work and more conversational comprehension.

Lastly, I hope that my passion for the French language is translated to my students, my friends, my family, and members of the community. I want people to understand the value of knowing and speaking a foreign language. There are plenty of benefits and it helps give people a voice that normally would not have one. One day at a time we will be closer to having a more connected, peaceful world.
