Journal Entry #2

1. Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.

When we as a people provide our information for certain websites or applications we expect for our information to be safe. This can be the case but here are always risks associated with storing information electronically. Four ethical issues I have found and will focus on are privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, data inaccuracies and system implementation. Privacy and confidentiality are of course important individuals want to know that the information stored is secure and will not be compromised by any unauthorized individual. Security breaches can instill fear and panic and as you would worry about your stored information being put out into the open. This is why a good security system should be in place as bad actors will use vulnerabilities to breach this information. Nextly, is data inaccuracies which could be the result of an outdated system or even human error causes inconveniences and can prevent certain action from being performed. For example, if someone is trying to access their banking information and there is incorrect data in the system about that individual they would not be able to have that access or could even get locked out. Lastly, system implementation which is what has to be done to ensure that systems are up to date and has all the necessary components to perform different jobs. Without good system implementation there would be disarray within systems and it would be harder to navigate.

2. Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.

Cybersecurity is important all across the world especially with technology always evolving and becoming even bigger part of our everyday lives. Though each country around is different in the ways they decide to handle cybersecurity and some places have more of a cybersecurity risk than others. According to broadbandsearch.net one of the most cyber secure countries is the United States. The United stakes has an abundance of cybersecurity firms and a low rate of certain attacks. For example, only 2.89 percent of mobile devices in the U.S get infected with malware or ransomware. Then there are countries such as the Republic of Korea who is also among the countries that are the most cyber secure has had more risks. The percentage for mobile devices there to get infected with malware or ransomware or 3.19 percent more than that of the United States although The Republic of Korea is know as a leader in technological advancements.
