I am interested in cybersecurity technology because it is a broad field of study that relates to everyday life. Growing up in the age of technology I am constantly using electronics from phones and computers to an electric stove. There was also a time where I wanted to join the navy and work as a cryptologic technician. This job would have included duties such as using technology to receive information and providing technical support in special operations. Although I am not going to be in the Navy I still have a desire to work within the technological field or more specifically cybersecurity. I have a desire to study more about cybersecurity and to learn more about the risks that come with technology and how I can make a difference by working to combat those risks some day.

Cybersecurity is relevant in various other majors, four other majors I have found that relate to cybersecurity are , computer science, information technology, engineering and Criminology.  In computer science you learn about networks, programming, and cybersecurity risks that come with these. In information technology you learn about software, hardware, and data. An engineering major learns about analyzing and developing computer hardware and software. Those majoring in computer science, information technology and engineering all learn about different elements to using and analyzing different types of data within technology. It would be difficult to mention these subjects without mentioning cybersecurity because when working with any type of technology it is vital to understand cybersecurity risks and the impact that it could have. In criminology students learn about different aspects of crime such as a criminal’s behavior and environment they are from. Criminology relates to cybersecurity because with the advancing of technology there have become more avenues for criminals to commit certain crimes by using the internet.
