1.  American Association for School Librarians (AASL)

The American Association for School Librarians (AASL) is a national organization that was created to serve school libraries in the United States to empower educators through leadership in teaching and learning. The AASL is important to me because as an aspiring Elementary School Librarian, this organization provides the necessary educational policy, leadership activation, as well as informational research to help fund and support school librarianship (American Library Association, 2020). https://standards.aasl.org/school-librarians/

2. Virginia Library Association (VLS)

The Virginia Library Association (VLA) is a nonprofit organization that was created in 1905 to help develop, promote, and improve library and information services in the state of Virginia (VLA, 2017).  The VLA provides a strong library staff so that librarianship can progress through literacy and learning.  This is important to me because this organization helps to understand the foundations of librarianship, while also providing networking and job opportunities in Virginia libraries. https://www.vla.org/about

Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is a blog site that was created for children’s librarians, children’s literature experts, educators, and library school faculty members that share the common interest in youth literature (ALSC, 2020).  ALSC is dedicated in providing informative posts based on youth library service and literary resources.  This blog site is important to me because it provides essential information for the most popular reads for children and advice in library skills.  http://feeds.feedburner.com/AlscBlog

SCIS (Schools Catalogue Information Service) is an online resource that provides catalog records for school libraries.  The SCIS mission is to help reduce financial difficulties for school libraries by improving the catalog quality, consistency, and accessibility.  This is important to me because I want to make an impact as a future school librarian, and SCIS provides reliable information in library system management and how to approach school librarianship through preparation and catalog development.  https://scis.edublogs.org/about/

7. The Library and Information Technology Association (LITA)

The Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) is an online blog that provides information and guidance on the latest technology and trends when it comes to Library Sciences.  This website represents library diversity by sharing posts and knowledge across all levels of librarianship, including:  school, academic, special, and public libraries.  I think this resource is very beneficial because it encourages professional growth through expressing different aspects of librarianship from a variety of perspectives.  https://litablog.org/

8. Library for All

Library for All is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide an accessible digital library globally with educational materials for developing countries.  This is an amazing online resource because it extends librarianship to countries that don’t have the necessary resources to provide standard literacy and education.  This is important to me and my professional growth because I want to support organizations that provide literacy opportunities to less fortunate populations in the world. https://libraryforall.org/
