The major I am pursuing here at Old Dominion is Dental Hygiene. I chose this major because I have always loved going to the dentist and helping people so with this career I can do what I love. I worked in a dentist office for a year as an assistant to the dentist and hygienist. With the job I learned the following skills: infection control, sterilization procedures, instrument sterilization, preparation of hygiene packets, setting up and breaking down treatment rooms and assisting with restorative procedures such as composite resins. I also learned how to navigate their computer systems and Dentrix dental software program.
