The parallel major I chose is International Business. I chose this because I have always loved the flexibility and opportunity that comes with a business major and all the jobs that are available to them. They are not limited to one exact thing and I like that. Something interesting about this major is that people who work in these jobs learn how to incorporate their company into a culture that is not their own. They can broaden their perspective outside of their everyday life and learn new cultures and lifestyles of foreign countries. People who work in this job are also likely to travel to new countries and form relationships with people all over the world which I think is something really cool to be able to do. One career I can do with this major is being a budget analyst. They basically work for companies by analyzing what other companies are doing that works or does not work and they make suggestions for helpful changes to be more productive and reach the desired goal.
If I wanted to pursue this major, I would have to basically start from scratch with the classes I would need to take. It involves a lot of economic and business classes that I do not need to pursue a Dental Hygiene major. To gain professional experiences I could do an internship at a bank or big corporations where I could observe and hopefully be given a job to do so I could start forming those relationships. My ODU advisor would be Bruce Seifert if I were to pursue this major.
