My reaction to the writing that I have done this semester, the more general thought I’ve had was it was polishing. Each assignment was a test to my writing skills to see how strong I was as a writer and if I were to develop throughout our whole semester. For example, from the annotated bib where I wasn’t explicitly citing my sources all the way to our call to action essay where I cited my sources, however, it was just not clear what source went to what piece of information. Although there were mistakes pointed out in both writings we can see how I improved from the first mistake to the previous mistake mentioned by giving what was asked just not in the specific form asked. One of my strengths as a writer is my ability to proficiently start off a paper, and grab the attention or peak the interest of anyone reading the paper. An anonymous user said on my call to action essay said “In my opinion, the intro is good started off with a fact but make sure if you got info that you cite or give credit to where you got it from or even if you paraphrase it” and that isnt the only compliment I have gotten on my intro to essays before. According to feedback from multiple people on multiple essays I need to clearly indicate where and what information came from each source. “For several people, CTE is significant. CTE is a substantial public health concern. Policies and guidelines to safeguard athletes and other people at risk can be informed by knowledge of CTE’s causes, symptoms, and long-term repercussions” It sounds like I am stating facts just said by mself here in this little piece of information, however those were pulled from the book that I earlier mentioned in this specific paper, but as the reader you wouldnt be able to tell because I cited that source two paragraphs ago. Throughout this semester my writing process has not changed at all, I still go about writing my papers the same way, I will say one slight change is I will now have people read what I wrote to see if it makes sense and looks good to them. An example of this would obviously be the peer reviews we have done and conferences with the professor. Due to me being a sports management major I was able to apply what I learned to my sports management major courses, specifically my intro course. When I wrote my reflective volunteer essay I found myself making sure I properly make a good introduction to what it is I’m writing about, and also indent my paragraphs as I tend to forget to. To conclude this has been a very insightful course when it comes to me personally as a writer, I learned a lot of things about myself and the writing process and will take things I have learned from this class onto the next ones.
