During my TLED478 course, I was able to bridge the academic world to the professional world by engaging in meaning interactions with students during my practicum while developing relationships with faculty and staff within Coleman Place Elementary School.
- Throughout the duration of this course, students learned the importance of interdisciplinary curriculums, how to create interdisciplinary lesson and unite plans, and creating and applying the lessons to a real classroom.
- Embedded below is a history unit plan created for a third grade classroom studying contributions of ancient civilizations– integrating reading/language arts, math, and visual arts.
- Through this course, being able to create integrated lesson and unit plans provided me with more experiences for when I create lesson content in my future classroom and being able to work with the students, teachers, and faculty helped to foster relationship within the school and community.
- Despite being in a pandemic, the experiences I gained during the course and in my practicum classroom were very beneficial as I got to utilize my technological expertise with navigating different virtual platforms as I assisted my cooperating teacher and integrated Web 2.0 tools into my all of my lessons.
- This experience relates to my future goal of becoming an educator because this course and the built-in internship portion helped to bridge the academic world to the professional world through hands on content. These experience made me more confident in my ability to connect with students which is at the core of why I wanted to become an educator.
