Academic Internship

Park Place is an elementary school funded by donors located in Norfolk, Virginia. This school educates students that have academic and behavioral setbacks. To complete my practicum internship hours, I chose to work at this school because of the board experience I would gain. I had to complete 120 hours assisting teachers and other staff. This included going to P.E., participating in the activities, graded papers, assisted the students during class hours and much more. I also attended a course connected to the practicum hours that recorded my hours, gave assignments and gave the class practical advice on plans related to post graduation. The hours were helpful in getting a significant amount of experience in my desired field and experience working with a group I needed experience with. The course was very helpful with creating the “post-graduation” plan. I had no idea what I wanted to do after graduation before this course. They presented PowerPoints, discussions, and gave assignments to contribute and guide plans. One of the assignments that was assigned during the semester was an excel document. I was instructed to make an excel document to organize what schools and jobs I am interested in by stating their name, G.P.A requirements, why I am interesting etc. This was extremely helpful, not only because it taught me computer software skills, but it also directed to me complete the required research early causing me to be more prepared in the future. Attached please find the assignment that was done.
