Diversity

(Please note: This activity was completed during the 2020 pandemic.)

I created an adobe spark page to explore the Ancient Egyptians beliefs on death and living forever. I discovered that the religious practices of the Ancient Egyptian and modern religious practices are similar. Many Religious practices revolve around the idea that there is an afterlife. Oftentimes, this drives the way that they live their lives.

I would have never imagined being able to visit the Vatican Museum in Europe from my bedroom in Roanoke, Virginia. I began my research through a virtual tour of the museum, and decided I want to focus on the exhibits in the Gregorian-Egyptian museum. I careful chose items that, at their core, related to the importance that Ancient Egyptians put on death. I want to go deeper than the surface gods and goddess worship, and dove into the belief of living for ever through death. Each item from the Egyptian museum has a different vantage point on the topic.I chose items that I was not familiar with. Unfortunately, this made it difficult to find credible pictures or videos. I spent the majority of my research on this topic trying to find intriguing content. Additionally, the Egyptian Museum provided limited information. I decided to use only the information from the museum pieces to ensure that I had an untainted perspective on how ancient Egyptians may have reacted or felt.

I learned how to obtain and process information by conducting further research about the artifacts located at the Gregorian Egyptian Museum. I gathered facts by using credible online sources that provided useful videos and articles.

The diversity project taught me how to find research and then use that information to come to a greater conclusion. In my future career as a Special Education teacher, this skill will be useful as I collect and apply data on the students in my classroom.
