The Leaders Program was announced to me at the end of the Spring semester of my junior year. When I saw this opportunity I was skeptical, however it has been a blessing. My time as a Leaders Scholar has aided me in becoming the well-rounded student that I am today. It has also encouraged me to take more courses that I would not have ventured into without the program. Further, the ability to document my classes and experiences allows me to have a bank to show future employers and schools.

My academic field is Biology. As I intend to become a medical doctor, I have been able to use the Leaders program to find opportunities to help me stand out in the application pool. I have also been able to take courses that benefit my goals as well as the program initiatives.

Furthermore, being able to diversify my skill-set has shown me the benefit of having more than a strictly scientific background. This allows me to present myself on a greater platform than I would have had without being a Leaders Scholar.
