Article Types

A primary article is a research article that brings forth first-hand results of the original research and is written by author/s who conducted the research studies. Theses articles are providing direct evidence or first hand testimony regarding a particular topic. Following peer assessment, these articles are usually published in scientific journals. A conventional format such as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Primary articles improve scientific understanding by introducing new scientific findings in the area of research.

Another common form of scientific writing is the review article. A review article is a scholarly paper that summarizes, evaluates, and synthesizes finding from many primary articles on a particular topic. Unlike the primary article, review articles neither hold new experimental findings but instead offer a structured evaluation of prior studies to identify trends, highlight significant findings, pinpoint research gaps, and suggest future direction for investigation. These articles are usually written by experts who know a lot about certain topic, which helps them explain the background and give analysis of how the different studies connect to each other

Peer reviewing is how scientists guarantee quality and reliability of published research, either from primary or review articles. It helps academic journals obtain scientific papers, referred to as a primary or review articles. It helps academic journals obtain scientific papers, referred to as a primary article. The article is then passed on to an editor of a scientific journal, who checks to see if it meets the journal’s standards for publication. During submission, the editor sends the paper to a specialist in the subject matter to be peer reviewed. Peer receivers check the research methodology, finding and conclusion to see where they determine the validity, significance and accuracy of the research. The reviewers then forward recommendations to the editor, whose final decision is either to accept or reject the article into the journal.
