It is important to be able to recognize fake websites because if you access a
fake one; there are significant dangers. They can steal not only your personal data, but
install malware, spread misinformation, and even lessen the trust in legitimate businesses.
Fake websites can have slight misspellings or extra characters and if you aren’t paying
close attention, you might not catch it. If you notice something different on the website,
like spelling or grammatical errors or no contact page, then it is likely a fake website. If you
are on a shopping website and the deal seems way too good to be true, then it’s probably
not legitimate. An example would be that you are looking to buy a brand-new MacBook
which is the newest model; if you are seeing it for $300 instead of $900 or higher, then it’s
likely not legitimate, because something brand new that just came out wouldn’t be that
cheap. Another thing to keep an eye on is being rushed to act immediately or your account
will be shut down. A legitimate company won’t do that; it is a scammer trying to
emotionally manipulate you and freak you out to make you act quickly. Cybercriminals
depend on you being distracted and blindly trusting someone and you need to be aware
and skeptical of things that don’t add up. The best advice is to pay attention to the link and
the spellings on the website, look for contact information and if it sounds too good to be
true than it likely is fake.

There are real websites and fake websites out there and sometimes the fake ones can lookfairly legit.
