How Does Cyber Security & Technology Relate to My Major?
My major is Cybersecurity, so this course, “Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society”, directly relates to my major. It is sort of difficult to elaborate how this course relates to my major, being that they are one of the same. In my opinion, this course could relate to most, if not every single major from computer science to liberal arts. In this “Age of Technology,” we should be learning about cybersecurity as early as our first math courses in elementary.
I am going to explain what I will or hope to gain from “Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society”. In this course, we will be learning about the issues that come along with cyber technology which includes, criminal behavior, ethical dilemmas, and cultural beliefs. This course is literally the foundation of my major, I highly doubt I would be able to have a full understanding of cybersecurity and be successful, in my major, without it. I am 32 years old so with saying that I am a millennial; I am completely immersed in technology and cyberspace as if it is a second language. That familiarity creates a large gap for vulnerability because I am not thinking about defense nor what I am putting at risk, I am only thinking about how quickly and easy it is to get done whatever it is that I need. From this course, I am expecting to develop the “third eye” because I need to learn to see what I have not been looking for in the cyber world. This course will probably teach me the technical vocabulary I need to excel with my degree. I am certain I will get a better sense of how everything ties in together. As previously stated, I am tech savvy so I understand the basic understanding of what, but I lack the knowledge of how and why; tomorrow I will know.
