This class gave me a well-rounded understanding of the U.S. Criminal Justice System. We covered four key areas: crime, policing, courts, and corrections. I learned how crime is classified and measured, the history and current state of policing, how criminal trials work, and the evolution of the prison system, including alternatives to incarceration and the death penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the most impactful aspects for me was analyzing the ethical issues within the criminal justice system, especially regarding policing and the death penalty. Through readings, discussions, and reflection papers, I gained insight into how each section functions both independently and in relation to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I also created a podcast for this class, which ties together many of the issues we discussed, with a special focus on police deviance and the criminal justice system\u2019s impact on society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
