These systems use parts like Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and<br \/>Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to monitor and control processes, often in real time.<br \/>Components<br \/>SCADA systems include Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), which collect data, and HMIs, which<br \/>display data to operators for decision making. Communication networks connect these parts to<br \/>the main system, allowing operators to adjust processes when needed.<br \/>Security Vulnerabilities<br \/>SCADA systems are often vulnerable to cyberattacks due to outdated security practices. Hackers<br \/>can gain control of critical infrastructure, causing major disruptions and issues. To reduce risks,<br \/>stronger security tools like firewalls and VPNs are necessary (Macaulay, 2016).<br \/>Conclusion<br \/>SCADA systems are essential but need better security to protect against cyber threats.
