As we can see from watching the video media offers a very inaccurate portrayal about cybersecurity.  Things that would be quite dull and boring to watch in real life are made more exciting in media which then skews the public understanding of cybersecurity.  A few nuggets of realism are sprinkled in with large amounts of over the top drama and unrealistic abilities of hackers with regard to what could be possible in the real world.  I think this is unfortunate because the public then perceives hacking and cybersecurity as something carried out in underground bunkers by mastermind criminals which while exciting gives the illusion of safety because the average person then might think it could never happen to them.  I have not seen depictions of more common cyber attacks via phishing and malware that can cost small businesses thousands of dollars and are more common than something from a Mission Impossible movie.  Since people have a false sense of safety many then don’t follow simple but effective best practices regarding cybersecurity such as good password policies and being vigilant against malicious websites and e-mails.
